Consider This: The mortgage crisis; bank bailouts; tumbling stocks; summer gas prices averaging $4 per gallon; and one country after another creating new bailouts and laying-off more and more people. During a recession like this, independent filmmakers and filmmakers in general need to think “out-of-the-box.” (Even Spielberg has been feeling the credit crunch!)
When Arleen Anderson (otherwise known as @Aloha Arleen on Twitter) proposed the concept of an “amnesia party,” it seemed like the perfect way to promote the film to a global audience in midst of a global recession. (@AlohaArleen knows her stuff when it comes to PR and marketing. She is great person to follow on Twitter!) The main idea was to create interaction with the audience members via Twitter. On February 20th interested people throughout the U.S. hosted “Amnesia” Parties in their homes and allowed their guests to post comments about the film as they watched it. Below are the “tweets” (or posts) made by some of those guests who chose to interact online:
