Possible Film
Production in The County, AMNESIA Returns to Caribou
The film, amnesia,
will be shown at the Caribou Performing Arts Center on October 29th
at 7:00 pm. The film, produced by county-native John W. Bosley,
toured throughout Maine this past July. Bosley will be visiting area
leaders in pursuance of the possible production of his next film,
The House, within Aroostook County.
The film, amnesia,
is Part One of The Allan Carter Saga, a three film series.
Eighty percent of the film was shot within Maine, while the remaining
twenty percent was shot in Michigan and Colorado.
I wanted to give
the people in The County one last chance to see the film while we are
in search of a distributor, Bosley explained. We felt that the
tour, being held in the summer, didnt give an adequate chance for
many people to see it. Fall seems to be the best time to show it
again.
Brenda Jepson, the
teacher for Caribous video productions class, helped to encourage
Bosleys talents and interest in filmmaking. Jepson was one of the
number one reasons that Bosley came back to the area in July.
amnesia is
gripping from the first moment to the last
, Jepson commented
after she saw the film. I would encourage anyone to watch this
film with its fast pacing, spellbinding scenes and compelling story.
Bosley hopes to
produce his next film, The House, in Aroostook County and has
been in discussion with several businesses and organizations about
how to shoot it in The County instead of producing it outside of
Maine. There are many other states in the country that offer tax
incentive programs to lure in filmmakers. Maine doesnt have a
competitive tax incentive program, so it doesnt draw much
interest. So far, there has never been a feature-length film
produced in Aroostook County.
Our company
slogan, Join the Revolution, has evolved since this summers
tour. I now realize that Aroostook County needs filmmaking,
Bosley explained. The County is invisible to the general
population, filmmaking could be the perfect way to display this
extraordinary part of Maine and also showcase the remarkable people
living in it. So, we are asking businesses and individuals to Join
the Revolution.
